Stampin’ Up! UK 3 colour challenge?

P1060886Although I’m familiar with the concept of taking part in card/craft challenges online, I’ve never participated in one before.

Basically, you spot a blog/website that has thrown down the gauntlet of creating a card with certain requirements, and you accept that challenge, create your masterpiece, and share it with the original blog.

Some blog owners offer what’s referred to as ‘blog candy’, which is often freebies/prizes etc, but many don’t, and they create the challenges in order to inspire themselves as well as others.

One of my SU! colleagues is a crafter down in Cardiff and he created a challenge to make a card using Gumball Green, Calypso Coral and Pool Party. Not a trio I’d automatically think to use…

However, I’ve been itching to use Pool Party, and until now, inspiration has failed, so I decided to accept Anthony’s challenge, and this is what I came up with!

P1060880

It’s an A6 notebook that I have bound in Gumball Green cardstock, and then alternately layered with Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Whisper White and finished with Pool Party.

I then stamped Pool Party ink onto the Pool Party cardstock, using Flowering Flourishes, and then ‘eyeballed’ a piece of Whisper White and where I roughly wanted to place it, then stamped again onto that.

P1060884There was a little jiggery pokery going on to get the white layer to sit properly over the prestamped Pool Party layer, but I think it works!

I wanted a ‘closure’ on the book, so I used a Calypso Coral brad and attached some Whisper White bakers twine underneath the notebook, then wrapped it around the brad. And inside, which you can’t see, I didn’t want the brad ‘legs’ to be on show, so I’ve popped a 1 inch circle of Calypso Coral over that too!

I’m rather pleased, and I hope you are too!
