A hexagonal Afternoon Picnic? Okay….

Simple, plain, and a little bit of texture.

That’s all this paper needed to give it a little ‘oomph’.

As with all my previous cards and projects that I’ve done using the Afternoon Picnic paper, this also is one that is designed to show off the paper rather than anything else.

I love that this one is the softened murky mushy blue of the Soft Sky, but has a little bite behind that blue. It’s not dull, but not bright, it has a little story to tell, I’m sure.

I wanted to have a little play with the Honeycomb Embossing Folder, so I simply ran the piece of DSP through the Big Shot in the folder, and I loved the result, so after stamping some images from the Six Sided Sampler set using Soft Sky again, I decided to use the colour on colour technique to make the sentiment stand out. After that, it was a case of punching them out using the matching hexagon punch and layering on some seam binding ribbon, then popping all the punches and the card mat up on dimensionals and laying it onto a Naturals Ivory card blank I’d cut and folded.

The simplicity of this is what makes it stand out. And it’s a great card to have on hand for those moments when you need a card at 2 minutes notice.

I hope you like it too!
