Pootles' Quirky Colours from Stampin' Up! Cardstock Close Up

I love to work with unusual colour combinations and endlessly surf pinterest for colour pairings that leap out at me.

I spotted this one on my rounds not that long ago and was itching to work with it!

Pinterest inspiration

While the photo is on a pale background, I wanted a darker colour which is why I went with Soft Suede, but the Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder and Bermuda Bay certainly stand out don’t they!

I sponged all the edges of the Petite Petals and Itty Bitty Accents flowers aswell as the Elegant and Bitty Butterflies.

And of course, it needed a sentiment, so I went to Painted Petals and took it from there, punching with the Decorative Label Punch and setting it all over a flourish of Linen Thread.

What do you think?

Hi from Melbourne, Australia. I love this colour combination and I don’t care if they are quirky or not. They really do stand out against the Soft Suede and I love the delicate look of everything.
Thank you once again for your generous sharing of projects, you really are a STAR.
    Love your work, regards

  5. I like the color combo too, pretty card!

  6. I have learned so much from you Sam, you have a wondrous eye for color combinations. I would have NEVER thought of this particular combination, I would be to afraid this colors would clash but, just look at this card, it’s simply lovely, those butterflies and flowers do stand out beautifully against the Soft Suede card base. Your Pootles Loops just add the perfect, whimsical detail to the design, I’m CASEing this card for sure.
Thank you for sharing your talent and creativity so generously.
    Many hugs.

Great color combo. Love all the embellishments and how you use your favorite punches so often – yet they always take on a different look each time they appear. Have a great weekend.

  9. Love this combination.

  10. Annie Jasper says:

You have taken things to the next level with this one! And as my husband once pointed out to me, men like flowers and butterflies, too! This color combination would be fantastic for a rugged guy like him, as well as anybody else with an appreciation for beauty!
    Love ya,

  11. Just wanted to say thank you for the inspiration! I love this color combo, and used it on my Mother’s Day card this year. I have a *really* hard time with Soft Suede, but used it to stamp the sentiment. Here’s a link to my card in case you are interested! 🙂
