Watercolour Words with Bird Builder Punch

Stampin’ Up! UK Demonstrator Pootles – Watercolour Words with Bird Builder Punch

Stampin' Up! UK Demonstrator Pootles - Watercolour Words with Bird Builder Punch Bird Detail

I only recently bought the Watercolour Words stamp set, but it was when I used it for my son’s birthday card a few weeks ago, I knew just how versatile it would and could be.

I’ll share a variation of his card another day, but this is a simple and quick card to make when you get that ‘oh heck, it’s a birthday/anniversary tomorrow and I’ve not made a card’ moment.

A little stamping, a little punching, a little sponging and you’re done.

With my addiction to the Background Stacks shares at the moment, I decided that making the bird using the Bird Builder Punch and the marina mist paper was the way to go. I had a scrap of Wild Wasabi to hand too, so that’s where the branch came from. Plus a little Linen Thread to get a look of a sort of nest…

I like simple cards and this is a cute one!

  1. It might be a quick card – but nevertheless it’s a stunning one! And funny enough, until now, I ALWAYS punched the bird in a solid colour and the wing with patterned paper. It’s unbelievable how different the bird looks the other way round. The same to the “nest”. I always built the nest by adding lots of branches on top of each other. You thread-version is less bulky and looks far more elegant. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us.
And: NO NO NO – I can’t buy another alphabet stamp set…….

  2. Oh Sam, I love this card. It reminds me of the song sung by Wings and Paul McCartney called “I’m a blue bird”. It’s such a gentle song and goes with your card perfectly. you always inspire me to want yet another punch to create with. Thank you so much. X
