Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Pootles - Simple card for a friend, inspired by... my hair close up

Okay so I have written some really random titles in the past, but this has got to be the most peculiar to date.

As you know, I see inspiration in everything. Whether it’s the view from a window, the skirt another Mum is wearing at school pick up time, or the reflection in the mirror….

I have hair that requires ‘assistance’ shall we call it…. but as I’m not yet ready to settle into being a stereotypical 40 something, I do it kicking and screaming!

I have hair that has natural auburn hints and conker shades to it, but I like to give it a little more oomph! Well, Brad my hairdresser does. And he’s a bossy chap! We (he…) decided to give the auburn and red slices a bit more pow by putting jet black streaks through it. Sounds terrible, but it’s kind of a reverse highlight… the black which you barely see makes the red and copper that bit redder and more vibrant!

But after I got home from the salon that particular day, I noticed that my red lipstick had faded somewhat and had taken on a rose sort of hue. I wasn’t bothered too much, it looked okay, but it wasn’t what I was expecting!

So after that long winded story about my hair, I was inspired to pull out some colours and work with them.

Hence the Basic Black, Cajun Craze and Rose Red….

Although I’m a child of the 70s, I don’t quite have ‘Flowers in my Hair’ nor am I or was I a punk rocker (waits for everyone to return from googling those lyrics), but I did smile at my own wit!

I hope you like my simple card that makes use of the Bordering Blooms and Endless Thanks stamp sets and the pretty Itty Bitty Accents Flower with the Washi Label punch.

Now who else gets inspiration from the reflection in the mirror….?

  5. Love that song, and didn’t even need to google…now can’t get them out of my head, but such a happy song!

  6. It’s not only the most eccentric title I’ve read from you but the most hilarious post so far. Thanx so much for making another kid from the 70s not feel so old when the stylist draws out that color chart!!!

  7. Picture please!

  8. Cindy Bailey says:

Love your hairstyle and I’m sure the color is fun. I wear the same style but with blonde/darker highlights. The only difference is that I am in my 70s. I sure won’t be doing the little old lady cuts/color if I can help it. Cute card too.

  9. Love the title made me giggle. Like the card, I have a friend with Auburn hair and she has had dark shades added it looks great.

  10. Love the story about inspiration. No, I couldn’t possibly use the color of my hair, or there would be too much white space. Just a reminder, I am a senior citizen who likes dirty hands from stamping. Thanks for sharing

  11. Beautiful card. Love that song. Show us the hair!
