South Hill Designs - Purples and Blue Balloons with Wink of Stella

Hello hello! Happy Sunday everyone! Are you having a cozy day in today? We’ve had more flooding up here in North Wales for the last few days, so the boys and I are planning a day at home, in the warm, with the heating turned up.

We don’t get snow round here, although I can see it on the mountains, but that means we just get the dreary drudgy wet. Yuck!

So I did struggle a little today with the card for my South Hill Designs and Stampin’ Up! mash up, but I went with some fun of balloons and celebrations. Not because we have any up in our house, but I feel that when the Christmas decorations come down, it can feel a bit blue around here, so we try and do stuff to cheer ourselves up.

I love the Balloon Celebration stamp set, and while we mostly think of bright colours for balloons, Sara Douglass (Acting CEO of Stampin’ Up!) told us in November at Centre Stage that the stamp set was thought of for softer paler colours rather than the brights of say kid’s party balloons.

I took her literally hence my soft Wisteria Wonder and the stamped-off Bermuda Bay.

So today, with a little Wink of Stella to accent the card, my boys and I shall be having a day of playing board games, watching movies and celebrating the coming year and changing times. And of course, we shall eat cake too. Although I do have to make it first..!

Happy Sunday everyone, no matter what you’re doing.

    Hi Sam,
We had some rain here in Lakeland FL USA today. Our two little miniature long hair dachshunds don’t like to go out in it. I go back to work on Monday. Right now I am working on a pair of knitted gloves for a friend. She insists on paying me for it so I tell her the yarn price is enough.

    • Christine Davies says:

I have never seen a ‘miniture’ Daschound, their bellies must be very close to the ground and therefore puddles too! Bless ’em. Wooly gloves – we will be needing them as well as long boots because snow is now on it’s way too – floods – snow – ice and then there will be more floods when that lot melts! I’m about a 20 minutes drive away from Sam, but more in-land. Winters are beginning to be very, very hard for some parts of the UK! Enjoy your knitting Julia.

What a fab card Sam. Simple, elegant and says all it needs to. Well done, keep them coming

  3. Christine Davies says:

A lovely card finished off perfectly with a swoosh of the lovely Wink of Stella in clear! I adore the Gold Wink of Stella!
The balloons on your card remind me of the pearlised ones that you can buy to put on the tables for Baby Showers / Christenings / Weddings, etc.
    Christine xx
