Pootlers Design Team Lovely Stitching Week 1
It’s a shiny new month for our Design Team and that means 4 new members of the team! I’ll let them introduce themselves to you, but as always, please do head over to their blogs, I only ever show one of their photos….!
Angelina Clark “My name is Angelina; I’m owner of Intatwyne Designs. Mother of one teenage daughter, and despite all the moaning and stroppiness, I love her to bits. I’ve proven to be one of the best aunties ever in the eyes of my many nieces this year mostly because of special crafting projects so I’m happy with that. I’m slave to 2 cats who have more diva moments then my child, so as you can imagine crafting is my escape or therapy, as I like to say.
I have been crafting for as long as I can remember off and on in many different forms. Mostly just the odd present here and there but over the last few years I’ve come out the crafting closet and I am proud to say I’m a CRAFTER. I love paper crafting but also love to make Jewellery, (cos a girls gotta have sparkly things) the odd bit of stressful baking and dressmaking and i’m learning crochet and knitting. Basically if I can find a way to make something that will put a smile on someone’s face, I’ll learn it.
I used several brands before with lots of frustrations and a few years ago stumbled across a YouTube video (or a few hundred) by Pootles. Sam made everything look so easy and always had everything matching and colour co-ordinated. It was something I couldn’t easily create with other brands and believe me I tried and battled and even lost my mojo due to it. So after a year of torturing myself, envying the co-ordinating pretty colours and not been able to recreate things with ease, I decided to join Stampin’ Up without even trying any of the products and I’ve been addicted ever since.
I didn’t even stamp before, so everything has been a new experience for me and Im loving the journey so far. (Even though it’s just the beginning). I think I found the best team of ladies to share my journey with, as they’re all really supportive and so creative it really pushes my crafting to different levels.
So I’m honoured to be a part of the Pootles Design Team and to not only share some of my projects but also to introduce my followers to a few members of our great team and help spread the inspiration and creativity.”
Keren Howell “I’m Keren, and I’m so thrilled to be part of the Design Team for August. I live in beside the sea in Swansea with my husband and a pampered Persian cat – both my sons are grown up. I’ve had a variety of jobs over the years. I started out as a teacher though, and these days I’m a Comms manager in the Civil Service. I’ve crafted for as long as I can remember and I’ve had a go at pretty much everything, with variable degrees of success. I love making pop-ups and kinetic/action cards and projects.
I joined Stampin’ Up! when I realised how much I could save as a demonstrator – yes, folks, I joined for the discount! – and have never regretted clicking on the “Join Now!” button.
My SU blog is Tuppence Coloured, which is a reference to Victorian paper theatres. These were sold for a penny, or 2d (tuppence) if they had been coloured. For some reason the phrase “Penny Plain, Tuppence Coloured” has always stuck in my head.
When I’m not crafting, I enjoy dancing (luckily my husband does as well!) and our teacher has persuaded us to work for medal tests – we’ve just finished Tango, Viennese Waltz and Rumba at our present level and have just started on the Samba. What else? Well, I’ve been a Star Trek fan since the original series and I met my husband at a Trek convention. (And yes, we did cosplay, including the pointed ears!)”
Karen McDonald “Hi, I’m Karen from Lilliput Crafts. I live in central Scotland with my husband, two grown up daughters (one a teacher and one just starting 3rd year at Uni) and several pets.
I’ve been a nurse for the last 30 years, currently working as a charge nurse in the discharge team in an acute hospital.
In my spare time I co-ordinate a hen rescue, run craft workshops, take singing lessons and lead a community choir.
In my ‘crafty’ spare time I’m one of Sam Hammond’s ‘Pootlers’, having been a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator for the last 10 months (this time round).
I first discovered Stampin’ Up! a couple of years ago when a friend introduced me to the fabulous SU products and got me hooked on YouTube videos, particularly Sam’s! I became a demonstrator for a few months but had a short break before returning as a Pootler – and I’ve never looked back! I even have a small team of my own, with two fabulous ladies (who are also old friends), Janice and Frannie.
I’ve always had a creative side, but until I discovered SU, it was predominantly knitting, making wine glass charms (both of which I still do) and various crafts with Brownies and Rainbows. Papercrafting was new to me when I signed up with SU, but I soon found that I couldn’t live without it! At first, I preferred to only make 3-D projects such as boxes and bags, but I challenged myself to come out of that comfort zone and try my hand at making cards too. I now probably make more cards than I make 3-D projects!
Stamping was also my Nemesis to begin with, but I’ve now mastered it enough to be happy with my efforts and I really enjoy seeing a stamp set in a box come to life on cardstock.
My blog is called ‘Lilliput Crafts’ (reference to Lilliput in Gulliver’s Travels) because everything I make tends to be small – I like to keep my projects small and relatively easy.
I’m delighted to have been chosen to be a part of the Pootlers Design Team for this month and am really looking forward to creating and sharing my projects with you, as well as enjoying seeing what my lovely team mates are going to create too. It never fails to amaze me what our team comes up with and how inspiring they are with their craftiness!“
Sally Shaw “Hi, I’m Sally, owner of Sallystampers. I am a Wife, mother to two grown up children, Chloe 20 and Jack 17, two dogs and I am now retired. Yes, only 40 years young and retired, what a dream.
My two passions are my dogs and my crafting.
I have always loved arts and crafts. Even when I was small I used to love the painting/colouring books that you just painted with water and the colour magically appeared.
Then I moved onto drawing and I still have my school art folder full of drawings and paintings!
I had never really enjoyed stamping until I discovered Stampin’ Up! I now realise it was because I didn’t have the right tools or the best products.
Now I am totally addicted to stamping and Stampin’ Up! and just love every single thing about it😄.
When I decided to become a Demonstrator I actually sold all of my non Stampin’ Up! craft supplies just so I could buy everything I wanted. Now I don’t buy anything else.
I feel honoured to be chosen for this month’s Pootles Design Team. Thank you Sam for this opportunity.xx”
