Pootles Advent Countdown 2016 Huge Reinforced Lidded Box

Pootles Advent Countdown 2016 Huge Reinforced Lidded Box Browns

Some gifts deserve a huge box. Not necessarily big gifts, but those that require their own level of pomp and ceremony. And there’s something wonderful about seeing a box with perfect corners tucked under the Christmas Tree isn’t there? I’m the kind of girl who when entering a hotel or lobby at Christmas time immediately eyeballs the ‘presents’ under the tree. We all know they’re just cardboard boxes wrapped up, but there’s something about those boxes that are very appealing.

I’m fairly sure I’m not alone in this, so my box today is a huge one with those sharp crisp corners and a bow that just shouts ‘aren’t I the best thing on this project’ (and for me, getting a bow tied at all is a wonderous thing….)

You’re going to have to be brave here today though. You’re going to have to break out the 12 x 12 cardstock and cut into a full sheet of designer series paper. I know, I know, that’s making quite a few of you twitchy, but do it. You’ll be pleased with the result!

The finished size is 6 x 6 x 3″ (15 x 15 x 7.5cm) so yes, you’re going to fit a lot in this box. Ooooo, what about a lot of small boxed gifts inside this one big one? Has anyone ever done that for someone? Or even received a box like that? I did it for my Mum one year on her birthday. Gave her one large box and then filled it with little wrapped gifts! I don’t know that she knew what to make of it, but the box felt like it was endless!

Anyway, have a fantastic week everyone, my boys (the older ones who dinged the doorbell) are on an enforced day off today. Teacher Training. This means they and I are at the skatepark or pokemon hunting somewhere….

Going to go make one once I’ve finished my cuppa!
Thanks for sharing another great project.

  7. Love the box. Really love the doorbell. It makes me feel like I’m in your “world”. Thank you for sharing you talents with others. Enjoy your boys. My only son is getting married Oct 28. I continually ask myself, “where did the time go”. You get to dance 4 times at each of their weddings. I have a 1 time shot. My husband gets 3 dances. Never looked at it like that when I was raising them either. Maybe tissue should go in that box. Us Mothers keep our children in our hearts forever….Have a “Great Day”, Sam

  8. Hi Sam!
I’m a little confused… Your details for the lid say score at 1″ and 3″ but in the video you say score at 1 1/2″ then you change and say score at 1 1/4″. Maybe it doesn’t matter but I try to follow your instructions so which is the best score to make?
LOVE the size of this box! Thank you.

  9. OK, now this is my favorite box.
