A Sale, a Retiring List or Something Else. And just what is a Year End Close Out?

Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Pootles -A Sale, a Retiring List or Something Else. And just what is a Year End Close Out?

Links are here for the 4 categories – don’t forget, the majority of it is a While Stocks Last basis, they’re retiring and won’t be back….

So at 8pm on a Thursday night, I admit it. We have all been somewhat confused by the ‘year end close out’ and the mixture of that with a retiring list and a sale.

Basically a close out is when a company decides to get rid of excess inventory or clears stock that’s due to retire. So that’s what Stampin’ Up! has done. They’ve put together a full line up of all the Stamps, Papers and Bundles that are due to retire at the end of December and those products have been put together in 3 categories on the shop website and then a 4th category covering ‘everything else’.

So let’s cut to the chase. The essence of the Year End Close Out is that the majority of our much beloved Autumn Winter catalogue will be retiring very soon and Stampin’ Up! has put those things together in 3 easy to search categories along with the 4th section for accessories and all those other bits and bobs that are essential in our crafting co-ordination.

What’s not been made clear is that not all the retiring products have a discount on them. Some do, some don’t. What’s also been missed is that there has been an ENORMOUS update to what we usually know as the Clearance Rack. And the contents of it have been scattered across all 4 categories *cuddles the Birthday Bouquet DSP from last Spring* rather than put into one place.

And let’s just chuck another bit in there and let you know that sometimes Stampin’ Up! has excess stock of products that are live and current right now. What’s never happened before is that they’re added to a temporary sale. And this happened today. Threw me completely. I went into minor panic about a couple of products from the Annual Catalogue, thinking they were going to retire them 6 months early!! That’s not the case, SU has simply decided to temporarily cut their price for our benefit, and theirs. However, those prices may go back up at anytime, so if you see a Main Catalogue item at a sale price, grab it quick.

So in short, we have now identified all the products that are due to retire soon, and some of those have had discounts applied. The Bundles are never normally discounted during a sale because they already have a 10% discount on them in the first place. There have been some main catalogue product temporarily reduced in price. And we’ve had a kind of clearance rack up date.

I think that covers it all!

  • Retiring List – check
  • Past Retired Products slashed in price and added back to the website – check
  • Confusion over bundles sorted – check
  • Main Catalogue sale price covered – check.

Okay, as you were! I’m going back to the shop now and am stocking up *manhandles everyone out of the way for the Birthday Bouquet DSP, and possibly the Have a Cuppa DSP. And definitely the Cups & Kettles Framelits. Oh and the……* *Stops typing and starts shopping*

  1. Sorry Sam, I meant to say thank you for clearing that up a few weeks ago. I was a bit confused when I saw some of the items on the list. I too thought they were being retired very early. Phew, so glad they’re not. Many thanks Sam. Take care.
