Jakki Douglass – I started Paper crafting around 8/9 years ago,I was a hairstylist for a number of years so creating was in my blood, when I retired from hairdressing,I set my self up in business making curtains ,with swags and tails, fancy pelmets etc. which soon developed in to upholstery, the fashion at that time was to have your sofa’s and curtains in matching fabric,I did this for a few years…..
Then when my eldest Daughter was getting married,I made her wedding and bridesmaid dresses,I enjoyed this so much, I was asked make them for other people so that was what i did,I ended up in organising weddings, fixing venues.cars ,cakes, everything to do with weddings.
I loved doing all this ,but unfortunately my health was not good and I eventually had to give up the work I had loved doing, 11 years ago my youngest daughter wanted a certain invitation for her wedding, and it was quite expensive,so off I went to the paper mill bought some card, didnt know anything about punches, stamps, dies, I went to a little craft shop near me and joined their craft classes, have not looked back, I love all forms of crafting, my favourite things to make are albums, I have a YT channel where I display these. I still make wedding invitation sets, these include, save the date ,order of service ,table names ,table plans ,favors etc. which i do enjoy doing but limit myself to 6 a year.
My personal life :-I have been with my husband for 47 years,we will be celebrating our Ruby Wedding this year in September….my second marriage…….. we have 5 children 3 girls 2 boys my eldest Daughter will be 50 on May 19th, my youngest is 34 and expecting her second baby in July ,this one will be our 8th Grandchild 7 Boys and 1 girl so our hands are full………I do have a dedicated craft room, this is where I am found mostly ,as I have a disablement that makes it hard for me to get around, I spend most of my time crafting in one form or another.I also run a weekly craft club in a local community center every Thursday evening, this is going from strength to strength, we have 46 members now, and always around 16/18 on a regular basis.
I teach mini albums and scrapbooking, we also have cardmakers, quilters and multi media plus knitting and crochet so a good mix of skills amongst us,We also run a full day crafting crop every other month, well i hope you now know a little about me, has been fun getting to know all about the rest of you,I think Stampin up will widen my thoughts on crafting and looking forward to meeting some of you in June xx
P.S.Since writing this one of my Grandsons has told me that he and his partner are expecting my 1st great grandchild in Octoberx
