Once you have a design for a box, it’s quite simple to change the measurements to fit a different gift.
When Debbie from Soaps and Scented mentioned that she has soaps that measure 3 x 2 x 1 inch, it was too much for this crafter to resist altering a design.
So, taking a box design I’d previously made, but on a bigger scale and with different proportions, I set about seeing if this was still a workable model.
And it is!
So while my original box was of ‘landscape’ orientation, because Debbie’s soaps are of a ‘portrait’ orientation, it meant the box had to ‘work’ in a different way and the measurements needed to be adjusted.
With a little work, I was able to make the measurements fit so well that actually, you can get 2 of these boxes from one sheet of A4 cardstock, and still have a little left over!
And because of the mix of requests for imperial and metric, here are the measurements for both.
METRIC
Cardstock measures 22.5 x 10
Score along the length at 2.5, 10, 12.5 and 20 cm
Score along the short side at 2.5 and 7.5 cm
DSP measures
1 at 7 x 4.5
2 at 2 x 4.5
2 at 2 x 7
IMPERIAL
Cardstock measures 4 x 9 inches
Score along the length at 1, 4, 5 and 8 inches
Score along the short side at 1 and 3 inches
DSP measures
1 at 2.75 x 1.75
2 at 1.75 x .75
2 at 2.75 x .75
