I’m not a cardmaker. I used to be a cardmaker, but I haven’t been one for a long time. I used to make dozens of cards, and would take them to craft fayres, and craft markets, and actually, I made good money from selling them. But then the market changed for a while. The explosion of shopping TV about 10 years ago stopped my business pretty much in it’s tracks. And with no way of teaching without huge outlays in purchasing stock at retail price, I moved away from cards and into the projects you’re perhaps more familiar with from my blog.
And I suppose, a little bit of my reluctance to make cards now is perhaps tinged with a bit of fear at not being able to do it very well? Who knows. But I’ve really enjoyed returning to ‘carding’ and certainly the simplicity of stamps and matching punches suits me very well.
I’m perhaps an impatient crafter too… There’s no shame in that. I have a very busy life, and I want to be able to knock up a birthday party gift in a few minutes, or whip out a belated birthday present without endless hours of snipping, cutting and trimming, but still know it looks stunning.
So, I give you, the 5 minute card video. Watch it and you’ll know why it’s only 5 minutes long….
