I’m a paper girl. I’ve never been shy of saying that, but sometimes it’s difficult to see how to use a paper pretty much on it’s own, without adding something else to it.
However, the Etcetera designer series papers collection is stunning, and many of the designs are beautiful enough to stand on their own.
For this, all I did was make a card base of Baked Brown Sugar cardstock, added a layer of Very Vanilla cardstock, which I sponged on the edges with Basic Brown Sugar ink. Then a layer of the beautiful paper, again, sponging the edges with more Baked Brown Sugar. In fact, I loved this so much, I decided to sponge the edges of the card base too!
Finally, I stamped ‘Thank you so much’ from the Lots of Thanks stamp set, punched that out with the 1″ square punch and a matching Very Vanilla mat with the Postage Stamp Punch, and again sponged those edges too, popping them up on dimensionals.
I still wasn’t happy enough with the inside though, so I took my new Shop Around roller wheel and stamped the inside of the card. Again, with the Baked Brown Sugar ink.
So in short, this is about layers and ink to make an old fashioned newspaper design into something a little more weathered and worn.
I love this card, it was easy and effective, and I can see myself making more along the same lines!
