Well, this card was made quite a few weeks ago, and it was given to my Mum by me. I love to give Mum flowers for her birthday, but this year, the days prior to Mum’s birthday was a whirlwind of an operation (me) night shifts (husband) family visiting (brother and co) and well, on Mum’s birthday itself, I decided to give her her flowers on a card.
I have fallen hopelessly in love with the Flower Shop and Pansy Punch since the moment they landed in my house. I’ve stamped, punched, stamped and punched, and used it far more frequently than any other stamp set I own (well, possibly Teeny Tiny Sentiments may take that crown, but we’ll pretend not for the purposes of this blog post…)
So all I did was set up a card blank of Basic Black Cardstock with a mat of Cherry Cobbler and a Layer of Very Vanilla, then set about stamping a handful of the Flower Shop pansies onto some Very Vanilla using Cherry Cobbler ink. They all got punched out and their edges curled, but then I wanted to have a Happy Birthday sentiment, but one that would perhaps look like the mini card you get in a real bunch of flowers. Well, Banner Greetings (a hostess exclusive) was the obvious way to go!
I stamped that in clear versamark ink and heat embossed it with Cherry Cobbler embossing powder, and I think that shine gives it that edge to make it stand out and be that tiny bit more special.
After that, it was simply a case of sponging the edges of the cardstock, and adding some Pearls to the flower centers, and 3 decreasing sizes down in the bottom right hand corner.
Mum loved it, which was fabulous, but the question is, how did I write on a black card? With the brand new Chalk Marker of course!
Now, I love flowers, my favourites are Grand Prix Roses and White Cala Lilies, both of which made it into my bridal flowers. Which are your favourite flowers?
