It’s that time again, the one where I get to share a design on the Around the World Stampin’ Up! Challenge Blog!
Because there’s 11 of us, we are split into 2 groups. I’m part of the design team that shares on the 15th of the month, and this one is all about Autumn.
I was inspired to keep my colours really simple. Basically, because that’s my style of card, but I knew I wanted to work with the Oranges this week, because more and more frequently, you guys who read my blog, and those who comment on my facebook page, are all seeming to dislike the oranges. Particularly Pumpkin Pie.
Poor thing. What did it ever do wrong other than to be the wrong colour.
However, I can get on board with that though, I understand that it’s one of those colours that kind of jars a little. It sort of sets your teeth on edge. Maybe.
And while I understand that the colours of this card may not appeal to all, I wanted to de-orange the Pumpkin Pie, but still keep it the show stopper colour.
So I made a cardblank of the Pumpkin Pie, made a mat of Cajun Craze, a layer of Whisper White, and popped a side panel of the Pumpkin Pie paper from the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Papers.
After that, I decided to bring in the matching 1/8″ ribbon for a strip down the middle and a trio of the buttons. But it needed a sentiment, so again, I pulled away from the brightness and dimmed it down with Hello from ‘Four You’ stamped in Cajun Craze which was then punched using the Decorative Label Punch, edged with Pumpkin Pie and popped up against a matching punch of Cajun Craze.
And I know, it’s still kinda orange, but I hope it’s a slightly more Autumnal look rather than a bright crayon box colour that seems to put some off.
Oh, and definitely check out the challenge blog, 2 of my friends took places last time!
