I look for inspiration all over the place. Sometimes it’s my mood, sometimes it’s the things around my garden or the view from the car window as I take my children to school.

But in this case, I was putting Oliver to bed a few nights ago, and as I laid him in his cot, my eye was drawn to his windowsill where I needed to draw his curtains.

Sitting there, was this gorgeous mouse with his bent back ear and dark red boots.

Immediately I thought his body erred towards Marina Mist and I just knew his boots were Cherry Cobbler. After that, I just fiddled about with my swatch pad until I had determined that the other colours on him were Sahara Sand and Chocolate Chip.

But while he’s not quite Marina Mist, he’s awfully close to it!

So that was the basis of the card that grew out of him, and was made into a dozen that are ready for dispatch to all my customers this week.

I take great pleasure in making cards for people who buy through me, and I like to make in small bundles each week rather than en masse once a month. I never repeat the same style twice, this batch of cards is a one time deal, but I loved every moment of making them!

So my ‘recipe’ is as follows –

Naturals Ivory Card blank to match his nose.

Cherry Cobbler Core’Dinations Mat to make his boots. I originally planned to distress the edges but changed my mind and sponged them instead using Chocolate Chip Ink

Marina Mist Designer Series Paper Stacks Layer to match his body. I sponged these edges also, using Sahara Sand Ink

Cotton Trim Ribbon belly with a triple layer of Linen Thread over the top to match his neck tie, tied into a bow.

I took the Hostess Stamp Set, Sweetly Framed and Stamped the frame and the ‘For You’ sentiment with Chocolate Chip Ink onto Sahara Sand. This was to match his ‘tag’ that has a cute poem on it!

Finally, I popped a large pearl on the bottom, as I didn’t feel ‘black’ made sense, despite his eyes being that colour!

I had a lot of fun making a card that doesn’t look like a mouse, but was inspired by one!
