Stampin’ Up! UK Emboss Resist So Very Grateful in So Many Subtles!

There is something about a stamp set that can be used in so many different ways. I may have used this set in a fairly simplistic way here, but one floral stamp, a smattering of pearls and the power pack of sponging and you’ve got a card you may not have imagined previously.

The make of these 6 cards was super simple. I cut a sheet of cardstock in half, then folded it in half. But the white layer, which I normally set to 1/4″ (5mm) less on both sides was set to 1/2″ (10mm) instead. I wanted that little extra oomph from the cardstock to match the sponging.

I wanted to work with the Subtles collection this week, so I picked out Pink Pirouette, Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Marina Mist, Wisteria Wonder and Wild Wasabi for the card blanks and then made sure I had the inks to hand too.

To create an emboss resist finish like this, I inked up my stamp using versamark ink, stamped it 6 times (inking each time!) onto those Whisper White mats, and sprinkled with clear embossing powder. I heated them all, then came in with the 6 different colours, gently and softly sponging from the left to right, so that the colour was deepest on the edge, getting softer towards the middle.

But I wanted to marry up the colours with the gentle Thank You sentiment (same So Very Grateful stamp set!), so I stamped in the colour, punched using the Ticket Duo Punch and sponged those edges too!

After that, I sprinkled an odd number of the smallest 2 sizes of Basics Pearls (7 on each card in this case) and I was good to go!

I love this simple effect, it’s not time consuming, but does take a gentle hand at first to get into the rhythym of sponging gently built layers of colour.
