Stampin’ Up! UK Papillon Pot Pourri meets the Fringe Scissors
Only 35 days left of Sale A Bration 2014…
How cute is this card? Really cute, right?
I wanted to use a few new tools and so I set about making one card! Firstly, well the most obvious thing really, is that I used the new Fringe Scissors to make the ‘grass’ at the bottom. I cut off 2 layers of Wild Wasabi cardstock and then randomly chopped into them to get the wispy effect. So cute. But once I had chopped at those, I needed to make the rest of the card, so I popped them to one side. (should I at this point confess that I was just ‘playing’ with scrap card and hadn’t actually known what I was going to do….?
So, glancing to my left, I spotted my brand new Texture Boutique and decided that also needed an outing!
For those that perhaps aren’t well versed in die cutting/embossing technology, Sizzix, who makes our Big Shot, have made a tool that is just for embossing. It’s smaller, lighter and tucks away tidily out of sight. Everything in miniature is cute right? Well, so is the price! It’s only £26.95, so I was kinda happy too!
Anyway, so I wanted to use this, so I grabbed my Flower Garden embossing folder and some Whisper White cardstock and ran it through. Love. It! so cute, so small, and embossed perfectly!
So, I now had 2 parts to my card. Some flowers and some grass….could only be butterflies with that then really! So I stamped with some Marina Mist and Real Red ink using my Papillon Pot Pourri stamp set and punched them using the Elegant Butterfly Punch and the baby Bitty Butterfly Punch. Then all I had to do was make their wings ‘lift’ and adhere them to the card and amongst that long grass!
All decorated with rhinestones, the butterflies look so elegant and pretty, so I decided that was enough, and I simply mounted it all on some more Marina Mist cardstock for the ‘sky’
I’m a happy girl, this card does look pretty. It’s not my usual style, but given that it wasn’t planned in any way shape or form, I was happy with the result!
