Stampin’ Up! UK Demonstrator Pootles – Hearts and Flowers Card inspired by candles!
If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll know that I’m often inspired by the world around me; sometimes it’s visible things like a piece of wall art, or something from my children’s bedrooms. Sometimes it’s the seasons or the weather, and this past week, I was washing up in the kitchen and as it was a fairly mundane task, my mind was wandering (who’s wouldn’t….)
And as I was looking around, my eyes fell on a set of candles that Mum and Dad had given me for Christmas years ago. I’ve never taken them out of the packaging, despite the fact that some of them are upside down, and as such, they’ve faded a little, and the packaging has yellowed over time, but I loved the mix of colours, the heart shapes and the pretty flower keeping the bag shut.
So after drying my hands, I came to my craft room and started pulling out bits of cardstock and laying them over one another. I didn’t actually like the original colour combination, but much preferred the rainbow that the Brights Collection holds, so I decided to use that as my colour palette, but otherwise, you can see that this simple card is definitely inspired by those candles!
I used framelits for the hearts, the smallest one. It’s larger than the heart in the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack, but not as large as the Sweetheart Punch. And my flowers are from the Boho Blossoms Punch with candy dots to match.
So my colours? Starting from the bottom, Melon Mambo, Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pacific Point. All from the Brights.
Now, off you go! Take a look around your house and see what inspires you!
