Stampin’ Up! UK Demonstrator Pootles – Faceted Gift Box Tutorial using Everything Eleanor
Oooo, don’t you just love a box that looks reeeeeaaaallllly complicated. But turns out to be rather simple to make?
Yes, me too!!!
As you all know, I was in the US recently and while doing a spot of shopping for the family, I came across a stack of 3 Ghiradelli chocolate faceted gift boxes and just had to buy them. You know, all in the name of research of course (ahem!)
And I know that I’m not the only crafter out there who uses the excuse of deconstruction in order to make an illicit chocolate purchase.
Or am I, and you’re not admitting it. Come on, we’re among friends here… ‘fess up!
Anyway, in the name of research, I carefully brought the boxes home, ate them all, deconstructed the boxes and mastered the ‘science’ behind how to get them built and then to close properly.
And it’s honestly nowhere near as complicated as you’d perhaps think!
The video will show you far easier than I could possibly explain, so do enjoy it!

ROTATE completely and score to the FIRST score line (as per video) at 1/4, 2 3/4, 5 1/4, 7 3/4, 10 1/4″ (6.2, 12.7, 19.2, 25.7cm)

Hi Sam, I stumbled across you on You Tube and I am so happy I did!
I live in Tasmania, Australia. Thank you so much for posting your designs, even my garland children watch you and build their little crafty items! Thank you again. Jenny
Hi Sam, I meant GRAND children! Silly auto correct! Jenny,
Hi Sam,
May I request measurements for a smaller version to hold an EOS lipbalm?
I love this box and have made several, but it’s a little too big. I’ve tried to resize but have been unable to figure out the middle panels where the triangles should be.
Thanks!
Phoebe
Magnificent, outstanding, perfect. France Martin told me about this box and gave you credit for it. You did a fabulous job. Will be making up soon. Thanks
What a fun fun box. Love it. would you be able to show a pic of the “template” with all of the squares/sections colored in with the pencil.. so we can see which sections to cut out. It is hard to tell on the video as the whole sheet cannot be seen at once. Please don’t get me wrong.. not complaining at all ! LOVE LOVE the video and the box.. and cant wait to make some of these 🙂
Found you thru Frenchie. Took me 4 tries to get the box correct. First time I messed up on the cutting of the 2nd part of the long scoring to the first line. After I got the scoring correct I messed up on the parts that were to be removed/cut out. Thank you for the step by step.

Love Love Love it. I found you through Frenchie. So glad I did. I can’t wait to make some of these boxes for my club members. And yes I too have been known to buy a box just to deconstruct for a pattern. hahahaha

Merci beaucoup Sam pour ce tutoriel trés clair!
tu pourras découvrir ma version dés demain sur mon blog, j’espére être à la hauteur
Thank you very much for this tutorial, it makes so much sense!
I have the box DVD from Crafter’s Companion which contains instructions for this box and Sara’s instructions are nowhere nearly as clear. I am also most grateful that you worked out the measurements in metric too and also made it clear that you can make one of these boxes from a single sheet of A4. The area that you marked to be cut out was also very clear in your tutorial and that does make a big difference.
It did take me three attempts to get it right though but now that I’ve got it there’s no stopping me!
Hi Sam
Just found your tutorial and I’m impressed how easy it is to make this box.
Thanks for sharing the tutorial with us.
Do you in any case have a pic out of the video where I can beeter see the diagonal score lines? I dont have access to PC or Laptop in my craft room and wanted to print out the picture as a guide.
