I am exceptionally blessed with having lots of people regularly shop with me, and very humbled that I’m the person they chose to shop through.
As you know, I always make a thank you card and gift to send out each month to those who shop with me, but, and this is a big but, I can only send those to people who have allowed me to contact them.
We’re talking all sorts of data protection laws here if I do contact someone who hasn’t shared their address, but I do get a few people who chat to me on facebook and have pondered if they’re doing something wrong, because they haven’t had a thank you gift.
Nope, not doing anything ‘wrong’ it’s not personal, but it’s the law unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you perceive it!) and I can’t bypass it at all.
I don’t believe in spam, so the only thing I use someone’s address for is for the label that goes on the front of their thank you pack! I don’t use the SU provided newsletters or e-cards, I have my own newsletter package, so you won’t automatically get signed up to anything either. It’s literally for me to say ‘thanks, you’re fabulous!’
I send an average of 80 packs out a month, but I have about 200 orders a month, which is around 130 different people. That’s 50 fantastic ladies and gents who are supporting me, but who I’m not allowed to contact to say thank you. And that makes me a bit sad in the face.
But a conversation with a friend today had me thinking, do you know where to select/deselect the contact button?
It always used to be at the point of checkout, but it’s now moved, so I have decided to make a step by step visual thingummy whatsit (yup, that technical) to show the steps and stages….
When you click on one of my Shop buttons that are scattered around this blog and in posts, this is the first page you’d see. And it should have my name in the top right hand corner.
Add your bits and pieces to your shopping basket, and at any time, you can review the basket. Definitely keep an eye on the Special Offers in the bottom corner
When you’re ready to check out, you’ll be asked to sign in, or register as a guest. Either is fine!
When you are signed in, and back on the shopping basket, you’ll now see that there’s a section in the top right hand corner with My Account written. Click it…..
Woo hoo! Look what I found that got moved….. A whole section where you can change your address if you move, and of course, choose if you’re happy for me to contact you or not!
Okay so I’m not the most technical of people around, and I’m proud I managed to make Cherry Cobbler ovals…. but I do hope it’s useful, I want to send more packs out this month!!!
