Pootles Advent Countdown 2016 #22 Large Box for 4 Dinner Candles
Did you know that dinner candles are a standardised size? No, neither did I! Well, until I started doing some research (by research I mean, I ordered some and then measured them against a bunch of random odd single coloured candles I had around the house). Well they are! A standard dinner candle measures 9″ (22.5cm) in length with extra for the wick. Was news to me. Now yes, there are exceptions to the rule, but the bog standard, buy them anywhere candles are going to be that length. What’s interesting is that the diameter is the same – 7/8″ (2.5cm) which is why when you buy a candle, it’s going to fit into a candle holder easily.
Yes, there was a big old penny dropping here when I googled for clarification!
Anyway, hopefully this should mean that this box will work for pretty much every dinner candle out there that’s of a standard size!
And how big is it when finished? 10 x 3-1/4 x 1″ (25 x 8 x 2.5cm) That’s huge! So even if you don’t want to put dinner candles in, then it’s a great size for other things too!
As I said in my video, this box does require a piece of cardstock that’s 12 x 9.5″ (30 x 23.5cm) but that piece left over after you’ve chopped into the big sheet is perfect for the top.
Have a great weekend everyone!
