Stampin’ Up! #1 Demonstrator Pootles – Lots and Lots of Layered Cards
A couple of weeks ago, I had an hour or so free one evening, but wasn’t sure what to craft or make. So I decided to break out my Petal Garden DSP stack and just play.
This was the result of an hour’s work!
First, I selected the papers I wanted to use. I went for those that were Rich Razzleberry dominant because that’s the cardstock I wanted to use. These kinds of layered cards work best with deep dark colours as their base. So RR was the right one for me.
Once I’d decided the papers, I chose 10 different ones to work as the main background, got them cut and set to one side.
After that, it was simply chop and slice and dice. I don’t really have any particular technique, and I don’t follow sketches (I feel like I’m doing it ‘wrong’ for some reason!). But I do sort of hover the pieces of paper over the cardblank to see if I like the size of them.
Basically I chop up rectangles and squares and run with it!
So these are 5 different layouts, with 2 of each, and I love them!
Oh and the stamping? I had all the cards made before I decided on the stamps and felt that Thankful Thoughts was a great set to use. The sizes were about right and they made a great batch of cards to have on hand ready.
Hope you like them!

Lovely as always, Sam. I am in the U.S. and have been following your blog for several years. You’ve made it so easy to follow along that I have finally joined SU as a demonstrator during Saleabration! Thank you for the inspiration.
Gorgeous cards. You got a lot accomplished.
Hi sam could u tell me the size of yr base card
Going to have a go using have a cuppa dsp love the lay outs
Many thanks LINDA
Hi Linda – because I know what a busy person Sam is – and it is her son’s (they have 4!!) half-term / school break I’ll answer your question for her.
Sam normally trims our A4 sheets of cardstock to the standard American size (US letter size is it?) Then she cuts them in half length-wise to get two slim cards – She then folds them like a tent. I now call tent cards – ‘Pootle’s cards’ Lol!
I hope that I did right by you Linda and Sam.

That’s my way of making a batch of cards too Sam! As useful as all the sketches of OSW’s (one sheet wonders) and other layouts are I rarely stick to the plan – I’m an off-piste kinda gal! You are so right about going for a deep ‘n’ dark colour for the card base and the matts – thinking of my old best-friend – ‘Blackberry Bliss’. I’m LOVIN’ the new’ ‘Regals’ and ‘Brights’ line-up by the way! Plus, I just ADORE the new ‘Subtles’ and the new ‘Neutrals’ have made me re-think my future with Stampin’ Up! Grey has never been just a neutral to me and I’m pleased to see a caucasian ‘pink’ in the pallet too. 😉 I prefer leaving a blank topper to stamp / stamp & emboss at a later date when I make a stack o’crads like this.. This is especially useful when attending any Craft Fairs/Markets – it’s surprising just how many cards you make in just an hour or two the night before – or even on the morning – of the event. I’m up with the birds in the Spring and Summer months! Sometimes my customers enjoy having a go at stamping their own sentiments, especially if it is one off card – providing that they practice first! Thanks for sharing your pretty cards with us – hugs ~ Christine ~
