#1 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Pootles – Homemade Kindness with Watercolour Pencils
Does anyone else have nostalgic images of Christmases past where there’s a stove with a christmas pudding on it and a happy whistling kettle, while a turkey roasts in the oven? Or have I overdosed on Charles Dickens books in the past?
Whatever the reason, I couldn’t resist this stamp set when I saw it in the catalogue. So pretty, so nostalgic and so “oh my goodness, I need a stove like that in my life”
You’re with me, right?
Anyway, I knew I wanted to show off just the stove, and not make it festive particularly, so I backed it with Frosted Florals shimmery gorgeous lovely DSP at the back and then used watercolour pencils to pull in the colour of the stove. I did consider going black and charcoal colours of a more traditional stove, but I rather liked the colours in the catalogue sample, so went with that instead.
I do however like to bring my red pots and pans out at Christmas and have red oven gloves out all year round, so they’re from my own kitchen!
I had this great idea though to mimic the shimmer of the Frosted Floral paper on the stove itself by using my Wink of Stella to do the blending of the pencils. Doesn’t work. Well it does, just not particularly smoothly….
But you know me, I show all my projects, even those that don’t work perfectly! I make the mistakes so you don’t have to!
