Lasting Lily in Wedding Colours!

#1 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Pootles – Lasting Lily in Wedding Colours!

Back in June 2002, Chris and I got married and we now have 4 children, moved house twice and are still just as happy, maybe even more so.

On our wedding day though, I chose my very favourite flowers, Calla Lilies, for my bouquet though rather than doing the popular colour switch of me having the bridesmaids’ colours and them having mine, I decided to go with white for my bouquet and blood red for theirs which happened to match the buttonhole we ordered for Chris.

There’s a funny story re the flowers. Well I can see it as funny now…. I had wanted a random bunch that trailed to the floor but instead they did symmetrical. Chris’s buttonhole was meant to be a miniature lily but instead they sent massive ones that kept falling down the whole day!

There were other issues too, the lilies in the girls’ bouquets were falling out even before we got to the church and the florist decided in her wisdom to put our floral displays at the back of the church instead of by the alter….

The picture above is Chris and myself with my 2 older brothers and his younger sister. Digital photography wasn’t hugely popular back then, so we only have a handful of pictures on computer that I can share with you, and none seem to show up our colours properly at all!

But I still love those flowers and 16 years on we smile about the issues. I wasn’t over bothered on the day, it wasn’t anything I could do anything about. So we just smiled passed it all

So after my long story (!) there was a reason for using Cherry Cobbler for my lilies today and the sentiment. Some days you can’t describe and our wedding day was one of those. How can you put into words your emotions and feelings as you marry the person you love most in the world? How can you put into words the feelings you have when you see your family and closest friends around you?

Have a wonderful Sunday,

Sam x

Thank you for sharing your wedding story with us! It’s true, what you said about issues on your wedding day and the best part, marrying your best friend. I’ve got a few years on you, I’ve got 47 years together! Wouldn’t change a thing! Anyway, what a beautiful card! I haven’t aquired this stamp set yet, in January for sure! Your colors are truely beautiful together. I think your stem and leaves are Tranquil Tide? I could find a name. Go enjoy another 16 years with your best friend!
