#1 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Pootles – Framelits Storage Magnetic Super Tip
Yay, it’s back! The 12 Deals of Christmas from the last 5 years have been so popular that I couldn’t not bring it back to you again this year….!
Details are down at the bottom…!
Happy Christmas!
Did you have a wonderful day yesterday? Are you perhaps heading out today to visit friends and family?
We have a chilled day planned at home today, resting and eating and enjoying one another’s company is pretty much all that’s on my to do list.
But as it’s a Wednesday, I have a quick tip video for you today.
For 5 years I have merrily left my dies on their original sheets and in their original sleeves, however in recent months I’ve done a lot more die cutting than before and found myself getting more and more frustrated with just how bloomin’ strong the glue is that holds them in place!
So I hunted around for some magnetic sheets on Amazon.
Now I know I’m probably late to the party on die storage using magnetic sheets, but I’m genuinely thrilled with this solution and totally bowled over (as you hear on the video) that my trimmer cuts through these super thin but super strong sheets.
I promised a link for you, so HERE it is. I paid £8.95 for 10 sheets, and cut each sheet into 4 A6 sized pieces, 22p per storage piece seems pretty reasonable to me!
So have a lovely Wednesday and if you’re chilling too, perhaps you’ll be considering storage solutions too!

- 12 Deals of Christmas.
- I don’t do sales, and I don’t do discounts. In my professional opinion, Stampin’ Up! offers the best quality products at the best prices around (and with over 15 years crafting experiences, trust me, I’ve tried ‘em all!). So you won’t ever see me offering to reduce the prices of products, or sharing my discount. But what I want to do, as a one off, just for Christmas, is offer 12 extra goodies as well as the regular Thank You Gift Pack that I send out to all my customers.
- Each ‘deal’ will only be available for the stated day, and will vary in price, product and value.
- I get an immediate email notification of all orders that come in, so you don’t need to worry about getting in touch, or emailing to say you want to take advantage of the deal, I’ll send it out automatically.
- Please note, if you select NO CONTACT, I cannot, by law, send you anything. Please make sure that you deselect that button….
- Today’s Deal is – All orders over £100 will receive a pack of Watercolour Pencils from me, as well as their regular Thank You Gift Pack. It will come direct from me, as this is an offer direct from me. It will not come with the order you place. If you use the hostess code for the month, it will still count for Both!
- Fine Print. This is not a catch, there is no single winner, this is not a competition. Please do not add it to your order, (unless of course you want duplicates!) as I will be sending this separately.
- All Gift Packs will be posted after the 12 Deals of Christmas have finished.

Loved your post on magnetic die cut holders. I have done this for years, but I go one step further and store them in the clear stamp set boxes because I get frustrated getting them back in those envelopes. I also went to an art supply store where I could but the magnetized sheeting in a roll. It means you can cut to the exact size of the box.
Love your videos all the way from Seattle. The email comes in around 11:00 PM the night before for me, so usually the last thing I see before going to bed.
Thanks for all your clever ideas.
Jae Anderson.
Hi Sam I too have been doing this for some time. I still store them in the actual envelopes, but i buy the slightly thicker magnetic sheets with sticky backing and I stick this onto the sticky card the dies come with. It’s brilliant they stay intact all in their place. Have a great Boxing day
If it doesn’t fit why not add 2 sheets and spread out the dies on each sheet. You could keep the most popular dies on the top sheet.
I also do this. I stick the magnetic sheet to the inside covers of the stamp cases. I find it really convenient. You can often store more than one set on each side of the case. You can also store them with the matching stamp set. Hope this is helpful. Love your work Sam. Dianne from New Zealand
I buy magnetic sheets at the local big box hardware stores. I cut the sheets to fit inside a SU stamp case. Now the stamps and the dies are stored together in the original stamp case.
Hi there ~ I have been doing this since I started card making a few years ago. I leave mine A4 size and store them in the A4 plastic wallets all themed. I label the wallet so I can reach whatever I want in a hurry. I got my magnetic sheets from e.bay more or less the same price. I found it so hard to remove the dies from the sticky tape and scared of bending them. Great minds think alike.
I’ve been doing this for a while Sam, but I stick the magnetic sheet to that very very sticky side of the card the framelits come on. It makes it a bit stiffer, making it easier to slide back into the envelopes. Hope this helps 🙂 love Sue H xxx
I also have been doing this for a while. But, I don’t like using the card paper the dies come on. I stick my to the backing from our DSP’s or I’ve even used the chipboard from our Paper Pumpkin Kits. Sam, you will get to a point where you won’t be able to cut your magnetic sheet in four’s. With the scraps I have kleft over from cutting these sheets, I use them for a second sheet if I need one! I will cut my sheets the same size as my envelopes minus about 1/8″. I don’t order from Amazon, my husband was looking for less expensive sheets and found some that you could peel the backing off and stick to something, if you wanted to! They are from The Oriental Trading Company, I think that’s the name of it. You get 25 sheets per order. I’m thinking the last time my husband bought the sheets, they were $13.95 plus tax. Now I know they proably went up in price, as it’s been a year or more since I’ve bought any. Just sharing information. Happy Boxing Day!
I keep my dies in a 3 ring binder. I put my dies on a full magnetic sheet, then I slip the sheet into heavy duty plastic sheet protectors. Works like a dream!!
I’ve been doing this, as well. Where I have dies/framelits/edgelits that don’t for on one sheet, I add a second sheet. I’ve also found that the cutting blade is no longer good for paper in your paper trimmer, so I mark it and keep it for use only with the magnetic sheets.
I am in the United States and I go to a home improvement store and purchase magnetic vent covers. I cut them to the size I need and attach thin cardboard on back for a little stability. Label the die and also place a label on the back to identify any stamp sets that go with the die. Store all in a small crate (actually 2 because I have tooooo many). Store all alphabetical.
Hi Sam…I’ve been putting mine on magnetic sheets and then back into the original envelope. But I got frustrated with the envelope flap moving the dies when I tried to close it. Now I purchase the larger Velcro dots (I’m in Canada so I get them at Dollarama) and attach them to the flap and envelope back to close it. Works like a charm and no more dies pushed out of place. Love all your videos and ideas. Brenda
