#1 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Pootles – Artfully Aware with Stampin’ Blends
It’s time for our monthly All Stars Blog Hop and today, I have a card that has a personal meaning behind it for me.
Not long ago, I received the results from an XRay on my knee, and have been told I have moderate severe osteoarthritis and will need a knee replacement sooner rather than later.
Mum, when I told her, immediately went into support mode and I know that I will be able to count on her.
So this card is us – me, with my reddy brown hair and a grey top, resting on my Mum with her golden blonde hair.
I took inspiration from the catalogue as it didn’t feel that my fussy cut ‘us’ was right just there on the card, so I stamped the (totally appropriate!) lean on me in 3 generations to get the different shades.
I’m not worried about a knee replacement, thank goodness we live in times of modern medicine, but i was rather shocked to learn that at just 45 years old, this was on the imminent cards for me. Fortunately a 2nd opinion has said that they want to put it off for a good 5 years yet, but it was still a shock and I’m still in pain daily, but no major surgery yet!
So my personal card is shared here for you, perhaps you’ll take a little inspiration too.

Sam,
In 1999 when I was 43 years old I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I had to have my entire thyroid gland removed to prevent it from spreading. I had to start taking a thyroid replacement medicine for the rest of my life. I am now 62 (will be 63 in Oct.). Go head and get the knee replacement if you can it will be easier for you to heal if you are younger.

Lovely card Sam sometimes a picture is more powerful than words.
Lovely card Sam and I am sorry you have had this diagnosis. I too had a diagnosis this week, for Osteoporosis. I am of course a lot older than you but I had felt I was really fit and well. As you say modern medicine is amazing and I have great faith in our medical professionals. All good wishes. Wendy xx
Sam: Sad to hear about your diagnosis at such an early age . . . BUT . . . you are young and you will recover VERY FAST . . . follow Julia’s advise.
Yes, you are quite young for knee replacement! But, you are such a loving and giving person, that God isn’t going to let your body hurt anymore than it has too. I’m really glad you got a second opinion. That’s so important nowadays. I think I’ve read you live in England? I’ll be there in Sept. God willing. Wanted to see if we could meet somewhere for lunch? I honestly hope you’ll listen to your body and rest when your knee says it’s time to rest! Believe me, It’s very important that you do that! I will keep you in my prayers and pray that God lifted some of your pain! Know you are loved.
About your card, my mum has passed on, only a year ago. As for family, I do have a granddaugther who would help me out. But, I love the way you fussy cut it out. I’ve thought about what I wanted to make with this and never once did I think about fussy cutting it. Thank you for that. I didn’t quite understand how you colored you image?
Hang in there! I know and have faith, you’ll go longer than 5 years.
TFS!
