#1 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Pootles – Quick Clean Up – Clear Mount Acrylic Stamping Blocks
Much like everyone else, I am making changes and adapting my business to suit the entire family being inside the house at all times of the day and night.
Now, if I had one child or very young children, I could probably continue to film in daylight hours, but with teenagers and school aged children, all of whom seem to really really like loud music and playing loudly, I’m no longer filming in the normal waking hour. Nope, I’m filming in the middle of the night when the whole house is long asleep.
Needs must and all that!
I’m not getting up in the middle of the night, I’m simply staying awake, often taking an afternoon nap so that I can stay up to the small hours and be reasonably coherent during my filming!
This video today is the final video after a midnight session and it was around 2am when I had decided to finish for the night, but then thought “hmm, my blocks are grubby, I know, I’ll film a quick clean up”
So I did!
And along with cleaning them up, I had a little chat about them too.
All acrylic stamping blocks are not created equally. Ours are very different – they’re shaped perfectly for fingers and thumbs to grip. There are no sharp or pointed edges. They’re just beautiful to hold and stamp with.
I stamp on mass a lot of the time for my thank you cards each month, and the shape of these don’t cause my hands to ache, whereas others in the past have done so, even after just a couple of stamp presses. These are fabulous and I have many of each shape and size and can always use more…!
So, who else is making changes in their home lives? And is anyone else a middle of the night crafter too?

I use rubbing alcohol (which I put in an acetone dispenser used by nail techs so it makes it easy to dispense) and chop up paper towels. I find the alcohol degreases and makes for a better grip when using cling stamps. I’ve been using this method for about four years; it is a rare thing that a stamp ever falls off a block. I took a cue from you Sam, and do not put the stickers on my stamps. I don’t really like the new “cling” stickers… thanks for all the marvelous projects you share with us.
Yes I use baby wipes ,you are so help full ,Have a nice nap today if you can to catch up on your sleep X
I enjoy your posts Sam. Now and then, the teacher in me cringes at the phonetically correst but mis-spelled phrases…e.g.: on mass stamping, really should be written as “en masse”. just a helpful note for the future, if using a French phrase, say it in French.
Thanks for your post–good to know that we can put our clear blocks in the dishwasher!
I’m a night owl, and even though I’m an “empty nester”, I find that I like to create late at night (and do household chores/stuff during the day). I’m usually up until 2 to 3 a.m.!
I have blocks that have sticky residue on them. How can I easily clean these?
