#1 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Pootles – Jack’s talented Blends Alcohol Marker Work (for his Birthday!)
Some of you have been following Jack’s progress as he murals his bedroom wall while we are in lockdown, and for a little background, Jack is studying A-Level Art right now (for my overseas friends, this is a senior subject and at this level, children study just 3 or 4 subjects and in extreme detail. I guess a bit like University for USA folk, just they do it earlier here in the UK!).
Anyway, he has loved art and drawing from when he was very very small. I recall finding little scraps of paper around his bedroom with drawings on, and from before he even started at school.
He loves creating and sharing and he is currently earning a little money by creating custom phone cases by drawing on them in this style, and yes, he does have his own set of Blends pens!
I was chatting to him the other day and saying how I wish he could show his talent to you all, so this is what he came up with. I’d told him that I love to colour ‘open stamps’ as I call them. The kind where there’s lots of space to colour in. So once he had stamped that image and left it to dry, he grabbed a pencil and started sketching out his images around the edges of it to fill the page. Then he went over them with one of our black journalling pens (again, he has about 8 of these himself!).
After that he went to town with his blends.
He pushes the ‘right’ boundaries in a way that I’m scared too. You can see where he has blended different colours together – the green and yellow and then the pinks and purples. He isn’t bound by any ‘rules’ to work only in pairs!
He created the card so that you can look at it either way up, and he’s put his signature to be seen both ways up too! Oh and he coloured the flower in as a rainbow “because Pootles” he says…!
I wanted to share his card today because it’s his 17th Birthday today, and for a British Child turning 17, it’s a major day. He should be out having his very first driving lesson. We should have a car sitting on our drive for him. He should be getting fun and quirky ‘car related’ gifts today – fluffy dice, L plates etc. But sadly the lockdown started before we had a chance to go out car shopping (he’s not driving my jaguar or my 7 seater!) and I feel so desperately sad for him. Turning 17 is such a right of passage and my heart is very sad for him.
So if you could show some love on him, it would make my day and I know it would make his.
I hope you enjoyed this project, I absolutely adore what I do and spend many hours working on designs, new projects, new ideas and more.
I love to spoil all the people who shop with me, so every month I post out a handmade card, an exclusive newsletter and a product gift too.
