#1 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Pootles – Summer Days and Memories
When I was a little girl living in Surrey, we had a Victoria Plum tree in our garden. Of course, it looked nothing like this one, but one wonderful year, it was full of fruit. I think it was just that one year – the British climate has a lot to answer for – but I recall that one year, I spent hours under that tree. With older brothers who were out with their friends, I spent time reading, playing with my teddy bears and having picnics with my Mum under it. She was studying to be a nurse if I remember rightly, and those hours of solitude for both of us were wonderful.
And that was running through my head when I was creating my card for today. A plum tree isn’t very big, and a victoria plum in about 1983 also not so big, but the imagery is the same. A girl under a tree with her nose in a book!
And now, years later, my boys are doing the same as I did, although not under a tree as we don’t have any, but this weird and peculiar summer is one that they will never forget as days of garden play and walks in the area will hopefully be their overriding memory.
I don’t remember my mum ‘working’ so to speak, though I’m sure she had nursing textbooks open all the time, but that isn’t my first thought when I think back to those years, and I’m sure that though I have notebooks and my laptop around me much of the time, when they look back, they’ll remember picnics in the garden and our hybrid versions of stick in the mud and piggy in the middle.
Have a wonderful day everyone, and I hope you have a nice wander down memory lane too.
