#1 Stampin’ Up! UK Demonstrator Pootles – Creating a Speckled Background for a Brilliant Wings Butterfly Card
So I have shown you a fair few projects using the Butterfly Bijou Paper, but today, I’m using only the Brilliant Wings dies and then sharing a cool technique.
I used to stamp a ‘speckled’ type background on cards way back when we had a stamp set called Gorgeous Grunge. It was ideal for this sort of random effect, but we haven’t had it for a fair few years now, so instead, I created my own using Wink of Stella and some ink.
I love the effect, and those layered die cut butterflies are just gorgeous.
Whichever colours you choose, I have found that 2 within one colour family, plus a neutral works well. So my original had 2 purples, then my on-camera version had 2 blues.
Have a wonderful day, and perhaps you’ll be doing some speckling too?

Love it! The splatter look is one of my favorites (I grew up using that stamp you referred to; my mom still has that set in her crafting cabinet and if ever she chooses to get rid of it, I will ask to buy it from her – it was that good!), and I never thought to use my Wink of Stella to accomplish the look!
Have you ever tried this with the White Craft pads on darker cardstock backgrounds? Or perhaps on “night sky” looks? Just curious if there’s enough pigment for it to show up.
