Beautiful Chic Cracker Favours Not For Christmas! – #1 Stampin’ Up! UK Demonstrator Pootles
Crackers are for life, not just for Christmas!
Today I’m showing more adorable crackers, but like others I’ve made before, these aren’t festively decorated for Christmas.
I do have a question though…
Christmas Crackers are British in origin, from about 180 years ago. To us, they’re a staple part of Christmas and an absolute Must on the Christmas Dinner table.
We don’t typically have them at other times of the year, and there is little deviation from the norm of the contents being a paper hat, a joke, the snap and a little toy.
But… my question is this. Why are crackers a popular thing over in the USA, but not as a part of Christmas? I know the whole explosive-on-the-dining-table is a slightly peculiar thing for anyone who doesn’t understand Christmas Crackers, but I’m curious about crackers at other times. Do they have snaps in too? Hats? Jokes? Or are the simply gift wrap.
So many questions!!!
Anyway, today I wanted to use different paper and I love the Textured Chic paper for it. And then those gorgeous flowers with the Distressed Gold Paper.
Utterly charming and chic, and not an explosive in sight!

Regarding “Crackers” in the US … they’re just a fun way to wrap up a treat or gift. We can get Christmas Crackers around Christmas time that have the hat, joke and toy. My family got some last Christmas. It was great fun to open them, wear the hat and read the jokes. I hope we’ll do it again this Christmas. ~ Mary G from Michigan
Here in Canada we DO use crackers on the table for our Christmas Feast. We don’t use them at all the rest of the year. USA is probably different.
I live in NJ and crackers are not part of our Christmas tradition. I’ve made some as party favors and just filled them with candy. When I saw these, I immediately ordered the DSP and the ribbon. These are so festive and elegant. I think they will make a lovely party favor for New Years. Thanks Sam, for another beautiful design.
